Chiara recommends the SoccerMom Records Showcase:
Saturday March 24 @ Painted Lady (218 Ossington Ave)
One of the best things about Canadian Music Week is being exposed to some of the great talent that resides in this vast country of ours. Based out of Edmonton, Alberta, SoccerMom Records is a local label and management company run by John MacDonald and Caitlin North (formerly of Bumstead Productions).
SoccerMom has been putting out records since 2007, actually beginning as a means to distribute local legend Jason Plumb’s music. They will be showcasing five of their artists at the Painted Lady on Saturday March 24, many of whom are also members of Plumb’s backing band The Willing, putting out solo efforts. Four even have new records set to drop the following Tuesday (March 27) so here’s your chance to check them out in advance!
The label put together a little compilation to celebrate, so go ahead and have a listen:
Having so many interconnections between the various artists, who knows who will come up to share the stage with whom. All I know is that with such a great mix of folk, rock and jazzy soul, it’s sure to be a great night of music – you just might end up spending the entire night in one spot.
Doors @ 8:30pm, music starts @ 9pm. Set times are as follows:
9 pm – Cody Gamracy
10 pm – Dan Silljer
11 pm – James Cohen
12 am – Jason Plumb
1 am – Creosote
Tickets are $5 or get in with your CMF wristband!
