CBC Radio 3’s Searchlight 2011!

It’s taken sometime for the news to really settle in… but wow, we’re in the top 20! Thank you so much! We are incredibly honoured to hve made it this far. Just… wow!

Here’s a bit of an update of what we’ve been up to:

Since starting up in August, we’ve bought shots for 41 bands/artists, totalling 136 shots, 2 bottles of Crown Royal, and 1 bottle of Jagermeister. We’ve presented 2 shows, covered 67 shows, plus an open house, a loft party and War Child’s Busking for Change.

We are continuously taken aback by the many people – readers, bands, and fellow bloggers alike – who have offered their congratulations, words of support and love throughout this whole “competition.” But at the end of the day, we’re all working towards the same goal of exposing great homegrown talent. Thank you so much for checking out our site! We hope we’ve helped people find some gems because we’ve certainly found some.

We offer our comrades in the top 20 our congratulations, but this is also extended to all of the long listers. We have been shocked and disappointed to see some of our personal favourites be eliminated, so we hope you continue to explore the sites on the long list.

As always, thank all the contributors, bands, publicists, promoters, other blogs/websites, and our friends for the support. We know we can’t do this without you.

And THANK YOU to everyone who voted! We appreciate your votes and we’d love to continue to receive them, but we really just hope you vote in general. Next week the top 10 will be announced. The winner will be revealed on March 10th.
