Chiara recommends the You’ve Changed Records Showcase:
Thursday June 14 @ The Great Hall Lower Theatre (1087 Queen St. W.)
Based out of Welland, Ontario, You’ve Changed Records was founded, and is run by Daniel Romano (Attack in Black, City and Colour), Ian Kehoe (Attack in Black, Marine Dreams) and Steve Lambke (Baby Eagle, Constantines). Boasting artists such as The Weather Station and Shotgun Jimmie in addition to Romano, Kehoe and Lambke’s own solo projects, YCR has consistently put out what can arguably be called some of the best Canadian records in its short 3-year existence.
The label is hitting NXNE, showcasing some of their talent at The Great Hall Lower Theatre on Thursday June 14th. The schedule is as follows:
9pm – Baby Eagle
10pm – The Weather Station
11pm – Marine Dreams
12pm – Daniel Romano
1am – Julie Doiron
With so much inter-band collaboration amongst the performers, there’s sure to be a lot of cross-over and stage-sharing between acts. A great mix of punk-influenced rock, folk, country, and pop, this is a showcase you’ll want to stick around for in its entirety – especially since The Great Hall Lower Theatre has seating!
Until then, check out YCR’s Bandcamp for online listening of all their artists’ albums, and watch Dan Romano’s video for “Time Forgot (To Change My Heart)” that features him as a primate to depict the evolution of country music:
