Paradise Animals is the project of Toronto’s Mark Andrade, who you may be familiar with from the currently on hiatus Green Go. A multi-instrumentalist with the electronic 5-piece, Andrade has channelled his talent and creativity into atmospheric dream-pop Paradise Animals with a self-titled EP released in February. The 7-song effort is full of rich, layered synth tunes and notably sees collaboration with Allie Hughes (ALX) on “Coastal Line”. The EP is available for free download on Bandcamp.
A man with many skills up his sleeves, Andrade has also filmed and edited his own video for “Wooden Box”, which prominently features the shores of Lake Ontario.
The gloomy yet experimental feel of the song paired with the ethereal images is mysteriously intriguing.
Paradise Animals celebrated a release party earlier this month, but Andrade and his band are back at it again on March 23rd at Sneaky Dee’s for the Young Lions Music Club showcase. Playing on a stacked bill, this night is sure to be a good one. You should go early and stay for the night. I promise you it’ll end with a bang.
And if you miss Paradise Animals at Sneaky Dee’s you still have a chance to see check ‘em out at the Toronto Institute For The Enjoyment of Music on March 24th at 3pm for the Young Lions Music Club & Humble Empire Live Near Bellwoods CMW Daytime Living Room Sessions with lots of other great acts.
And for good measure, give a listen to “At This Time”:
