Chiara recommends Twin Atlantic:
Wednesday, March 21 – The Phoenix Concert Theatre @ 9:15pm
w/ Organ Thieves (8:30pm), Teenage Kicks (10pm) and Treble Charger (11pm)
It’s a bit of a no-brainer that you are going to want to kick off Canadian Music Week 2012 at the Phoenix on Wednesday. Opening for the recently reunited pop punk legends Treble Charger are local rock groups The Organ Thieves and Teenage Kicks, as well as Scottish band Twin Atlantic.
Hailing from Glasgow, Twin Atlantic’s official full-length debut Free, produced by Gil Norton (The Pixies, Foo Fighters) was released last May on Red Bull Records and earned them iTunes UK New Artist of the Year for Rock. You can stream it in its entirety on their website.
Check out the video for title track “Free”:
Passionate and anthemic, the chorus is just dying to be sung along to while driving in your car to a destination unknown, the windows rolled down and the wind in your hair. I haven’t been able to turn it off.
If you missed Twin Atlantic when they were at Sneaky Dee’s at the end of January, you don’t want to make that mistake again. They are currently rocking Austin at SXSW before touching back down in Toronto to take part in Canadian Music Week. The show is 19+ and tickets are $24.50, available through the Canadian Music Week website, Ticketmaster, at Soundscapes or Rotate This! While limited wristbands/passes will be accepted, you likely want to pick up a ticket for this one to guarantee entry into the hottest show of the night!
