Date of show: May 27, 2011
Shot of choice: Jager
While I missed most of the night, I made it to the Garrison in time to see The Davey Parker Radio Sound celebrate the release of In a Land of Wolves and Thieves with a rockin’ set. The turnout wasn’t quite enough to pack the vast space of the Garrison, but the guys made the most of their set. The psychedelic/garage rock sound isn’t anything new, but these guys do this throwback sound well. Their on-stage energy is evident, with Jason Fitzpatrick and Graeme Jones co-fronting the band, alternating lead vocals. The songs are catchy with hooks that keep the crowd interested.
I’ve heard that the band has since undergone a lineup change, but I expect that The DPRS is still as driven as ever. Expect the band to continue touring In a Land of Wolves and Thieves in the fall.
I’m the new drummer, so you better believe we’re still driven! Can’t wait to see everyone soon – and maybe even preview some new tunes! – Mike
