In it’s inaugural year, the Toronto Urban Roots Festival will bring a mix of Canadiana, Americana, folk, country, roots, soul, and straight up rock to Fort York and Garrison Common in downtown Toronto for 4 nights and 2 full days, running from Thursday July 4 to Sunday July 7. Headliners include She & Him, Arkells, Flogging Molly, and Belle & Sebastian – but there are a ton of other bands from The Barr Brothers, to Hannah Georgas, The Wooden Sky and Whitehorse just waiting to grab your attention earlier on in the day.
An outdoor event, the festival will run rain or shine so dress for the weather and pack appropriately to be outside all day – folding chairs, blankets, and snacks are welcome! Beyond a stacked musical line-up, it’s an all-ages event and apparently there will also be Giant Jenga? Can’t wait to see what that is all about!
Doors are at 5pm Thursday, Friday and at 11am on Saturday and Sunday. You can still pick up tickets – regular admission or VIP – for individual days or the full four over on the TURF website. And if the main festival isn’t enough for you, there are also separate ticketed late night club shows happening at Lee’s Palace and The Horseshoe Tavern from Thursday to Sunday night, offering additional opportunities to see bands like Dawes, Frank Turner, and The Sadies. Check out the full schedule here!
Be sure to follow @turfTO on Twitter for updates throughout the festival!
