Halifax’s Alert The Medic made Ontario home for about a month, playing 7 shows in Toronto, most notably taking up residency at the Supermarket for 4 Wednesdays, as well as a last minute addition to support The Dudes at the Horseshoe Tavern. The 4-piece is comprised of Ryan MacDonald (vocals, guitar, keys), Troy Arseneault (guitar), Matt Campbell (bass) and Dale Wilson (drums).
The band release We, The Weapon in 2009 and they played favourites from the album including “Atlas”, “The Weatherman” and show closer “Hey Kid, to the Back of the Line”, which resulted in friends singing along on stage. Highlights of the set include new song “Hannah and the Ocean”, as well as a cover of “With a Little Help From My Friends”. With MacDonald’s charisma and Arseneault rockin’ the guitar, Alert The Medic put on a great show. While they’ve received much acclaim out East, the band is still working on the rest of Canada. With new songs making their way into the set, a new release should get some well-deserved attention.
