Date of show: August 20, 2011
We’re no stranger to Amos the Transparent shows. Every time we see this Ottawa-based band, it’s a party, which speaks to the energy in their live show. The 5-piece is comprised of Jonathan Chandler (vocals, guitar), James Nicol (bass, vocals) Mark Hyne (guitar, vocals), Daniel Hay (guitar) and Christopher Wilson (drums). On this night, the band debuted a new female member, but also brought along Carleigh Aikins, who has sang with the band on many occasions.
As Amos the Transparent is gearing up to release their sophomore full-length, the band played many new songs, but also mixed in their classic favourites that invite sing-a-longs. “Greater Than Consequence”, “(Here’s To) New Beginnings”, “The Stale Scent Of Old Beer” always get the crowd going. Highlights include a cover of Queen’s “Killer Queen” and the addition of a cellist to the set.
Amos the Transparent will be releasing their new record on November 3rd, 2011. Look out, Canada!
